- Natural Gas Bill Assistance Resources in Georgia
We understand that our customers deal with a variety of issues that may include financial hardships. At times, you may have found yourself missing a payment and in need of assistance with paying your natural gas bill.
Access to natural gas to heat your home and cook meals should not be of worry. If you find that you need help making a payment, you can find information below about statewide agencies and programs that offer energy assistance.
You can also contact us to help you understand your options and request possible assistance through any available funds. We may direct you to an assistance agency to receive the funds.
Statewide Nonprofit Organizations and Programs
LIHEAP
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that helps eligible customers who meet certain criteria pay their energy bill. Energy assistance through LIHEAP, as well as interpreter services for applicants who experience communications barriers, are provided at no cost.
Applicants for a LIHEAP grant must meet these requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen or legally admitted immigrant
- Have a total gross annual household income at or below 60% of the state's median income
- Have full responsibility for paying the energy bill of the primary home’s heating source
Applications are accepted starting the first business day of November and open only to the homebound, residents 65 years and older and those with life-threatening circumstances. All others can begin applying for assistance on the first business day in December and are served on a first-come, first serve basis.
You must reapply every year, even if you qualified the previous year. Call 404-657-3426 or 877-423-4746 (option 5).
Credit Counseling
If you are having trouble paying your bills, ClearPoint, a national nonprofit credit counseling agency, may be able to help. You can reach them at 800-251-222 (866-559-8198 para Español) or by visiting clearpoint.org.
Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) Senior Citizens Discount Program
Customers 65 years or older and who have a total combined household income of $25,760 or less are eligible for a monthly discount of up to $14 off their base AGL charge. To qualify, natural gas service must be in the customer's name. For additional information, see this fact sheet (Español). If you qualify, please fill out the mail-in application (Español).
Constellation Discount Program
Constellation customers 65 and older are eligible to receive a discount of $1.96 off their supplier rate. For example, if the supplier rate is $5.95, the discounted supplier rate would be $3.99, or if the supplier rate is $7.95, the discounted supplier rate would be $5.99.

2. HopeWorks
Adults who are 65 and older may qualify for a gas furnace or water heater repair from HopeWorks.
Criteria:
- Must own and be living in the home
- Must meet program financial guidelines
- Must purchase natural gas from a Georgia Public Service Commission-approved natural gas marketer
